The Symposium on Tribal Citizenship will bring together some of the top scholars and practitioners on tribal governance to discuss what it means to be a ?tribal citizen.?

They will consider the various ways this notion is conceived and constructed throughout Indian Country, the tensions and trauma that circulate around determining who is and isn?t a tribal citizen, and whether or not ?citizen? is even the ideal frame for Indigenous communities in Settler states.

The symposium will feature historical, anthropological, legal, and political science perspectives all engaging in a fruitful conversation on tribal governance and belonging.

Panelists will include: David Wilkins, Shelly Hulse Wilkins, Audra Simpson, Carole Goldberg, Deron Marquez, and Olivia Chilcote.
