The Continuous Clapback: The Legacy of Language

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
The African American Studies Program highlights "The Legacy of Language" as a tool to speak the truths of Black women through spoken word poetry and hip-hop music. Alyesha Wise (poet and teaching artist) and Miki Vale (local hip-hop artist and activist) illustrate how Black women continue to use language as a vehicle for challenging power, stereotypes and marginalization. Alyesha Wise and Miki Vale inspire audiences to engage with language as constructions of self-reflection, political activism, cultural awareness and love.
