SDSU?s Andres Bonifacio Samahan (AB Samahan) proudly presents the 33rd Annual Filipino Culture Night, this year titled ?Lola.? Since 1986, Filipino Culture Night (FCN) has provided a space for students to freely express themselves while allowing them, the faculty, and the community at large to become more culturally enriched. FCN is also one of the most significant events AB Samahan puts on as a gift to the community. This year?s production will be presented by AB Samahan?s very own Co-Cultural Coordinators, Mariel Lyn Velicaria and Jason Esguerra.
For the last 33 years, our organization unites to produce our largest event: the FCN. This year?s event is comprised of a theatrical play that explores the lesser known experiences of older Filipino figures?specifically caretakers?and the mystery of their silence. In addition, we will explore important topics of family while showcasing Filipino culture through our various performances. Our hope is that the overall story we tell will resonate in the minds of the audience and encourage a new dialogue to strengthen and improve family relationships. We will also be featuring a lesser-known piece of Filipino American history as well as traditional dances from the various regions of the Philippines.
We warmly invite you to this free event to celebrate Filipino American culture and we hope to see you there!
