See former San Diego resident Joan Gannij (a.k.a. Joan Levine). Joan was the first female DJ on KPRI, and later on KGB, with the program "Culture Shock." She was also a feature writer for the LA Times, San Diego Magazine and the UT. She is an award-winning children's book author and travel writer. Called a "renaissance woman" in a Daily Transcript profile, Joan has been active in the Amsterdam poetry scene?where she now lives?and is back in town to launch a new poetry book and memoir.
