Art of ?lan?s commitment to commissioning new work and bi-national initiatives continues this season. A highlight is the commissioning of Tijuana-based composer and double-bassist Andr?s Mart?n to write a work for NOW Ensemble (Art of Elan?s ensemble-in-residence.) The piece will be premiered both in San Diego and Tijuana in the spring of 2018, and will be featured on the May 15 concert at The San Diego Museum of Art. A native of Buenos Aires, bassist, arranger and composer Andr?s Mart?n has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles in Argentina, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Brazil, Mexico, Denmark, England, Germany and the United States. Since his arrival in Tijuana, Andr?s has been immersed in teaching as well as performing as a soloist and chamber musician. He is a member of the Orquesta de Baja California and Cuatro para Tango, a chamber ensemble with whom he has released four recordings.
