Max Romeo was born in St. James, Jamaica in 1944 and has a long history of reggae and roots recordings that have achieved chart success in Jamaica and the United Kingdom. His first major breakthrough in the music industry came in 1968 with the album Wet Dream in which the title song ?Wet Dream? became a top 10 hit in the UK with six months on the charts. The song was eventually banned from BBC radio due to its sexually suggestive lyrics and Romeo became known for introducing the concept of rude reggae to Britain. His career has risen and fallen in waves and has seen a recent revival with more recent recordings in the ?90s and a 2014 Father and Sons album release which is a collaboration with his sons Ronaldo and Romario. (Max Romeo?s daughter Azana Smith has also started a recording career under the name Xana Romeo.)
