Transcending Barriers (Peace Train) Rehearsal

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
Singers and supporters of all ages are invited participate in the Peace Train's Transcending Barriers Rehearsal at the WorldBeat Cultural Center, followed by a screening of the documentary When Voices Meet at 7:00 PM. The rehearsal is in preparation for the Transcending Barriers march to Tijuana that will take place on July 21. A desire to affect positive social change in the quest for peace is more important than singing experience!

The Peace Train is an international movement that began in 1992 in South Africa to help Nelson Mandela transcend the barriers of Apartheid by forming a 500-voice, multiracial and multicultural youth choir. Started by two women who were born on opposite sides of Apartheid?s barriers, Sharon Katz and Nonhlanhla Wanda, The Peace Train has been conducting projects with diverse groups around the world for over 25 years, to sing in harmony as one Human race.

In 2018, The Peace Train?s founders will bring singers from Northern, Central and Southern California, and across the border into Mexico as part of their Transcending Barriers project.
