From Tacloban City, the Philippines-based dancers and musicians of Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company have traveled through Europe, Asia and the US since 1961, showcasing folkloric dance cultures and traditions. This group has won numerous awards over the years and was considered one of the world's best groups of dancers in 2016.
The August 3 Philippine Cultural benefit show is to help rebuild Tacloban City, which was once ravaged by Super Typhoon Haiyan in 2013. Funds raised for the Kalipayan USA Tour 2018 will help build a Cultural Center for the Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company.
