The drumbeat of life continues thumping and it is time to get aligned with the Great Spirit at the Sycuan Pow Wow. The Band of the Kumeyaay Nation is inviting everyone to their circle for a celebration of American Indian culture. Boys, girls, men and women of all ages will partake in a weekend filled with drumming, bird singing contests, peon games and even chicken dancing.
With over $125,000 in prize money, contestants will surely have everyone gathering around for the traditional festivities, from dusk ?til dawn.
Native American dancers, drummers, and bird singers from across the nation will convene at the Sycuan Reservation the weekend after Labor Day for the three-day event that also features Native food and Native American arts and crafts and informational booths. The Sycuan Pow Wow is free and open to the public.
