City Ballet of San Diego opens its season with Tchaikovsky Spectacular. From the classic to the contemporary, City Ballet struts its stuff in tribute to the great Russian composer Tchaikovsky. Accompanied by the City Ballet Orchestra, these performances of excerpts from Swan Lake, including "Act II" and the famed "Black Swan pas-de-deux," are lovingly and lavishly staged with full scenery, costume and lighting effects. You'll also experience the Tchai Celebrationm a large cast ballet set to the composer's The Seasons, featuring Elizabeth Wistrich's expressive contemporary choreography. Artistic Director Steven Wistrich presents a free lecture 30 minutes before each performance.
