Each year, World AIDS Day is recognized and dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, and mourning of those that are have died from the disease. In acknowledgement of this international day, Tritons for Gender Equity (T4GE) and the Center on Gender Equity and Health (GEH) from the School of Medicine will be hosting a movie screening of "Liyana," an animated film about a tale created by five orphaned children in Swaziland. This film gives a documentary feel with poetic scenes to portray the power and healing of storytelling, especially from stories of perseverance. Before the movie begins, we will have a GEH faculty member discuss the impact of HIV/AIDS in our world and specifically in Africa. After the movie, the artist of "Liyana" will host a Q&A session about the film.
