Women's Museum of California and Mo'olelo Performing Arts Company plan staged reading entitled "Go, Tell Michelle: African-American Women Speak to the First Lady." On the occasion of President Obama?s inauguration, writers Barbara Seals Nevergold and Peggy Brooks-Bertram asked women with ancestry from across the African Diaspora what they would like to say to the new First Lady. They collected 100 letters and poems from women in their early 20s to octogenarians and compiled them into a book, Go, Tell Michelle. The women who wrote described themselves as hairdressers, office workers, tenured professors, evangelists, community organizers and businesswomen.Mingle with authors Barbara A. Seals Nevergold and Peggy Brooks-Bertram (5:15 PM). Reading directed by Seema Sueko (6:00 PM). Bring something to drink, hors d'oeuvres to share, or make $10 donation at door.
