On tour from India for their 2011 journey of the west coast, on this night Zen House Concerts is once again delighted to feature an intimate evening of transformational vibrational music with Pandit Vikash Maharaj on Sarod and his virtuoso son Prabhash Maharaj on Tabla.
Pt. Vikash Maharaj comes from the oldest musician family in Varanasi. Dating back 15 generations, the family has passed down the legacy of Indian classical music, which includes instruments, dance and vocals, for more than 500 years. Vikash's ambition is to popularize North Indian Classical music worldwide. He also creates fusion music, having performed with such jazz greats as Herbie Hancock, John McLaughlin, John Handy and Paul Horn.
