Global Journey/Local Response: Works by Jean Charlot focuses on work revealing an artist who traveled frequently but who sought great inspiration from local environments. Born in Paris in 1898, Charlot traveled to Mexico shortly after the end of the Mexican Revolution and studied at the Open-Air School led by painter Alfredo Ramos Mart?nez. Charlot became a pioneer in Mexico, leading experimentation of fresco techniques in mural-making process. Years later Charlot worked in Georgia, Colorado, Kansas, and Hawaii, where he spent the final decades of his career.
