The two-day event features a variety of traditional Greek cuisine and new specialties, traditional bazaar with Greek imports, pottery, fine jewelry, artwork, Fun Zone with crafts, dancing, game booths and carnival rides for children of all ages. Church tours will be held throughout each day. A live auction will be held at 5:00 PM both days.
Visitors can experience a variety of traditional Greek cuisine and new specialties as if they came straight from YiaYia?s kitchen. Appetizers include Tiropita (cheese phyllo pie), Dolmathes (grape leaves stuffed with rice and meat served warm with egg lemon sauce), Dolmathes Yialantzi (grape leaves stuffed with rice, pine nuts and herbs), Keftethes (Greek meatballs), Loukaniko (Greek sausage), Taramosalata (Greek caviar dip), Calamari, Rizogalo (Greek rice pudding), and the ever-popular Loukoumathes (honey-dipped Greek donuts). A la carte specialties feature succulent rotisserie roasted Lamb and Chicken, Souvlakia (shish-kabob cooked over charcoal), Gyros (seasoned meat, onions, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce on pita bread), Spanakopita (spinach phyllo pie), Pastitsio (baked layers of macaroni, seasoned meat, cheese and b?chamel sauce), Pilafe (Greek rice), and Salata (Greek salad with olives and feta cheese). In addition, enjoy freshly brewed Greek coffee with many famous homemade Greek pastries in the Kafenio (coffeehouse) while being entertained by live music.
The church?s award-winning folk dance troupes, Armonia and Neo Kyma Dancers, will perform in full traditional dress on the outdoor patio. Those interested in learning to Greek dance will have the opportunity as instruction will take place throughout the weekend. Afterward, try Greek dancing in the Taverna to the live music of the popular and contemporary band The Olympians.
