The lecture will show major monasteries from several different Buddhist sects including some of old Bon religion, native to Tibet that blended with some of the earliest Buddhist monasteries in Tibet with influences from India and other sources. The devout attitude of nomads and pilgrims, particularly in Eastern Tibet, ritual implements, monastery treasures, and Buddhist festivals will also be shown. Important sites are: Samye, Potala, Kum Bum (Ta?er Lamasery), Labrang, Litang, Dege, Katok, Pelyul, Pema, Repkong, Choni, Riwoqi, Sexu (Serchul), Nancheng, Chengde, Lama Temple in Beijing, Datong, Xian, and Wutai hillside temples. Closing slides will be a memorial to Jyekundo (Yushu) following the great earthquake of 2010. A special surprise will end the series.
