The Friends of San Diego Public Library Valencia Park/Malcolm X Branch will host a community observance of the 2011 International Year for People of African Descent. The event will include a panel discussion with community input on the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Declaration of the year, which aims to strengthen international, national and regional cooperation to benefit the people of African Descent. The traditional art of storytelling, poetry, art, music, African cuisine and an African Marketplace for Vendors will also be included.
