Investigative journalist and Tijuana resident Erin Siegal will detail how she pieced together the story of stolen children, child traffickers, and corrupt safeguards in Guatemala in her book Finding Fernanda. Ms. Siegal is an investigative reporter, photographer, author, and Fellow at the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis University. Ms. Siegel will share the highlights of her investigation into the dark side of international adoption and steps that need to be taken to safeguard both Guatemalan children and the American families wanting to adopt them. She will showcase the search for Fernanda, an "orphan" literally taken from her mother's womb, and her two missing sisters who are finally reunited with their mother with the help of an American housewife slated to adopt one of the girls.Wine reception follows.
