Free Concerts Open to the Public with Miles Shrewsbery & Nasir Syed.
Nasir Syed has been learning sitar since the year 2000. While being an undergraduate student at UCLA, he had the good fortune to begin his apprenticeship under world-renowned sitar master, Ustad Shujaat Khan. Since then, Nasir has spent years dedicated to the pursuit of North Indian classical music, both as an artist and as a researcher.
Nasir follows the musical style of the famed Imdad Khan Gharana, of which Ustad Shujaat Khan is the main exponent. This style is characterized by its vocal ornamentations and its emotive grasp of the raag.
