Bread & Salt gallery in Logan Heights will be the new, temporary home for the large format portraits of African-American and Hispanic San Diegans by artist John Mireles.
"Entitled Neighbors," the prints from this project were originally exhibited in public within the Logan Heights community of San Diego. Over the course of one year, from October 2015 to October 2016, the prints in this exhibition transitioned from vibrant and shiny to dull and even vandalized.
In the process, the images have become not just snapshots of one moment in time, but the manifestation of the change over time and a metaphor for the change wrought by gentrification in the Logan Heights and Barrio Logan neighborhoods.
The exhibition, "Neighbors: Manifestations of Change," will run from Nov. 1, 2016 to Dec. 29, 2016. The opening reception, which coincides with the Barrio Art Crawl, will be on Saturday, Nov. 12 - 6 p.m
Admission/Cost: FREE
