From Slow Violence to Slow Food: Piedmont?s Stories by Dr. Serenella Iovine. Though Italy is often seen through the lens of clich?s, its landscapes and ?ecological bodies? ooze stories that overflow these commonplace representations, and deserve to be told. These are stories of ancient calamities and ?maldevelopment,? in which environmental catastrophes occur within the context of corrupt politics. But these are also stories of resistance, transformation, and redemption that have revelatory power: they can create coalitions, reshape identities, help people see hidden connections and reinforce their claims for justice.
