Nile Sisters Development Initiative invites the public to Female Genital Cutting (FGC): A Conversation in San Diego, a community event that highlights concerns about FGC in the region, as well as identifies community-driven approaches that aim to address those concerns.
FGC, also known as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), is an illegal procedure that involves altering or injuring the female genital organs for non-medical reasons, resulting in adverse short-and-long term medical conditions. Read Defenseless Against Female Genital Cutting, the latest publication on FGC in San Diego County.
The event will provide stakeholders and community members valuable insight on the FGC practice and how to better serve and advocate for survivors. It will feature a film screening and panel discussion with Female Genital Cutting (FGC) survivors and activists, health care professionals and other FGC subject matter experts.
