Translator Estelle Gilson will be in conversation with Elio Schaechter about Umberto Saba?s "Ernesto", a classic of gay literature about a boy?s coming of age as a warehouse apprentice who is seduced by an older employee. The event is free to the public and presented by New York Review Books, which is publishing "Ernesto" this season.

Umberto Saba (1883-1957) is considered one of Italy?s greatest and most beloved poets of the 20th century. Estelle Gilson?s previous translation of his "Stories and Recollections" has won many awards. She will be signing books. She lives in San Diego.
