Dakila (Great, Nobility), founded in 1972, was one of the very first Filipino fronted bands with mass appeal embedding tagalog lyrics and playing in major clubs and venues such as Bill Graham's Fillmore West. Signed by Epic/Columbia Records, the band's fusion of latin, jazz, and rock were compared to the Bay area sound of Santana. The band has been reignited after a 40-year break, returning to San Diego for this special event.
