Lecture: Piracy on the Chinese Seas

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
Pirates are more than just swashbuckling scallywags that sail around the Caribbean, stealing gold and singing shanties. Pirates have emerged throughout history in many locations due to a particular set of circumstances: a weak central government, a pirate-friendly local populace, renegade Europeans, and a niche in the economy. This lecture will be a close look into China?s very own piratical rogues? gallery, their stories, and how the Celestial Empire met the Jolly Roger.
