Join us for an Odissi dance workshop featuring master teacher Rudraprasad Swain. Odissi is an exquisite classical dance form with ancient roots in northeast India. Rudraprasad, who comes to us from the Orissa Dance Academy in Bhubaneswar, is a student of Padmashree Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, Guru Aruna Mohanty, and other noted teachers of the art. He is currently resident instructor at the Center for World Music?s Odissi Dance School. In this workshop, you will:
Learn about the history of Odissi and the training required to become a performer;
Participate in an introduction to fundamental movements of Odissi; and
Enjoy a short performance by the dance master and the students of the dance school.
