Kicking off Museum of Making Music's Global Cross-Strings concert series, this historic show features South African kora guitarist Derek Gripper and Indian slide guitarist & Debashish Bhattacharya as they make their North American touring debut. After becoming enthralled with the sound of the kora (21 string African harp), Derek decided to transfer the kora repertoire onto a six-string guitar. This feat has helped build a new repertoire of classical guitar music. Equally as inventive, Debashish has reinvented Indian raga music with his development of his signature Indian slide guitars and playing technique.
