Reggae Festival Featuring Ziggy Marley

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
Saturday September 1st Ziggy Marley returns to Del Mar to headline the reggae concert on Seaside Stage. We be jammin? before, during and after the races with music and endless ice cold brews from our annual Beer Fest. Come enjoy the famous Ziggy Marley who has made a name for himself as one of reggaes leading artists by continuing his family's involvement in the music scene. Ziggy's style of music is similar to that of his father, legend Bob Marley, with his roots in reggae focusing on the message of brotherhood and social justice. Beginning his career as a member of the family band, The Melody Makers, allowed for creative freedom in which Ziggy mixed the genres of blues, R&B, hip-hop, and reggae to create upbeat and positive music that was thought provoking to its audience. His solo career took off after two decades of pioneering The Melody Makers to multiple Grammy awards. The response of Ziggy as a solo artist was also a commercial success as he went on to tour in the Jeep World Outside Festival alongside other artists like O.A.R., Sheryl Crow, and Train. Today Ziggy is also known for his rigorous involvement in a breadth of charities including his own URGE (Unlimited Resources Giving Enlightenmen) which aids developing countries like Jamaica and Ethiopia. Other charities for AIDS and children's musical education groups have also received his attention.
