The Story of Ferdinand (1936) by Munro Leaf is a classic children’s book about a gentle bull in Spain who prefers smelling flowers to fighting. Despite his size, Ferdinand refuses to engage in bullfighting, choosing peace over violence. It is a timeless story about nonconformity, being true to oneself, and resisting pressure to conform.
