For more than three decades, WorldBeat Center has brought together music, culture, and environmental education to celebrate Earth Day and inspire community action. Rooted in the belief that caring for the Earth also means honoring cultural traditions, the festival highlights the deep connection between environmental stewardship, indigenous knowledge, and global cultural expression. This year’s celebration features live world music, cultural performances, environmental speakers, wellness experiences, and interactive garden activities in our Ethnobotany Sanctuary Garden. Local environmental organizations and coalitions will also be present sharing resources and opportunities to get involved in protecting our region’s biodiversity.

| 4:40 PM | San Diego Arab Film Festival The San Diego Arab Film Festival is back for 2026 with live, in-person presentations of feature length and short films at the Museum of Photographic Arts. The festival will open on Friday, March 27, and present 8 screenings, each showcasing one feature film and one short film (except for one that has 2 shorts and one in which the feature is long so it doesn’t have an accompanying short), from across the Arab World. All films are presented at the John and Irwin Jacobs Theater in the Museum of Photographic Arts. Each evening, the festival will also offer cafeteria-style Arabic dinner.
This year we have all three films from and about Palestine that were shortlisted for the Best International feature award. Six of our films were the official submission by their respective countries for Best International Feature (Palestine 36, Palestine, The Voice of Hind Rajab, Tunisia, All that’s Left of You, Jordan, A Sad and Beautiful World, Lebanon, The President’s Cake, Iraq,, and Calle Malaga, Morocco. Our short films include two films about Palestine from Iranian filmmakers, who are struggling to find international audiences because of US sanctions, as well as films from Palestine, Jordan, Egypt and Yemen and the US.
We are excited to bring these films to the San Diego community!

She argues that by studying the cultural and technical history of materials like red cedar, bison sinew, and turquoise, students can learn that sustainability and reciprocity are just as important as structural strength. Moreover, existing studies tend to overlook the historical antecedents that shaped the globalization of Korean popular culture over the last two decades. To address these gaps, this international workshop on histories and cultures of South Korean fashion brings together leading scholars from history, art history, fashion studies, and popular culture. San Diego’s original fine art festival, Mission Fed ArtWalk, will fill the streets of San Diego’s Little Italy district with more than 250 fine artists, four music stages, interactive art for families, food and fun, Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, 2026. This year, the 42nd annual event will bring a weekend-long celebration of arts and culture to San Diego’s Little Italy.
Mission Fed ArtWalk attracts 100,000 art collectors and visitors from all over the country to purchase art from established and emerging artists during the two-day festival. The event features artists from every medium of art, including painting, sculpture, glass work, photography, fine jewelry and more. After browsing and purchasing one-of-a-kind works of art, directly from the artists, attendees can enjoy four stages of live music, interactive art experiences, street food, family-friendly art projects at KidsWalk and more.

She begins to imagine a new and different life where she can be free to explore her dreams and find love. Hiroyuki Murase, Creative Director of suzusan, will lead a special workshop to introduce the history, background, and techniques of this art. In this four-hour workshop, participants will learn two different Shibori techniques and use silk scarves to create a unique, handmade piece. From there, this exciting new, and creatively fulfilling, endeavor began to take shape, which led to the release of the band’s eponymous debut album, Mariachi El Bronx (I), in September of 2009. The album would lead to praise by both critics and fans alike due to the band’s precise attention to detail and musically authentic take on the form.

The prescience of James Baldwin is alive nearly forty years after his passing, a testament to his enduring impact. A prolific writer, his essays, novels, plays, and poetry have assessed and often reproached the human condition. As an activist, his oratory prowess in the 1960s was bar none, lending his outspoken views on Black oppression with profundity and eloquence. Born in New York City on August 2, 1924, this year marks the centennial of the eminent writer, a momentous occasion that is celebrated by the release of one of Meshell Ndegeocello’s most intrepid efforts to date: No More Water: The Gospel Of James Baldwin. With No More Water, Ndegeocello embarks on a prophetic musical odyssey that transcends boundaries and genres, delving headfirst into race, sexuality, religion, and other recurring themes explored in the celebrated writer’s canon.
