Black to the Beginning: It's Not a Game is theme for 15th annual Kuumba Fest, February 23-25, at Lyceum Theater in Horton Plaza. Friday boasts family night of positive images, awards, and pageantry celebrating our creativity; African-American art exhibit (6:00 PM); royal court processional (7:30 PM); performance of Dajahn Blevins' play Black in Time (9:10 PM). $20.
Saturday boasts educational workshops (10 AM), health and culture marketplace (10:30 AM), Act Like You Know by Dajahn Blevins (1:00 PM, $5), hip-hop dance and step competition at (3:00 PM, $12), Taste of San Diego Soul (5 PM, $5), poetry slam (6:00 PM, $12), Late Night Live at the Lyceum (9:00 PM, $15).
Sunday: African-American marketplace (1:00 PM), Debi Mason's Keys to the Kingdom (2:00 PM, $10), Soul of a Desert Traveler by Simone Edwards (4:00 PM, $10), fashion show (6:00 PM, free), and finale gospel celebration (6:30 PM, $15).
