Helen Edison Lecture: Truth and Beauty in Mexico & Latin America Alma Guillermoprieto has emerged as one of today's most informed and admired writers on Central and South America. She has been The New Yorker's Latin American correspondent for almost two decades, has received numerous awards, and is the first recipient of the Samuel Chavkin Prize for Integrity in Latin American Journalism. During the event, the UCSD Chicano/ Latino Alumni Association will award two scholarships.
