Josephine Tonight! is the rags to riches story of legendary Josephine Baker, an African American who overcame racism and poverty in the United States to become the highest paid entertainer in Europe and one of the single greatest influencers of the 1920s Jazz Age. The musical is based upon the early life of Josephine Baker. Admired for her scintillating dance routines and ability to do the unthinkable with class, Josephine dazzled audiences with her beauty and talent. The musical score uses excerpts from Baker's original repertory as well as newly created show tunes that capture the flavor and verve of the era. A century may have passed since her birth and over two decades since her death but the phenomenally talented and courageous Josephine lives on in Josephine Tonight! This ongoing event is from now until May 21, 2007.
