In Hindu practice, the lifeforce or kundalini, lies dormant in a coil at the base of the spine. The elusive kundalini can be awoken through meditation, hatha yoga or any number of other techniques. Bhagavan Das, revered chanter and Kali devotee, will instruct us in the subtle art of awakening the soul-sense through sound. All reality has an essentially vibratory structure. Knowing how our internal energy channels respond to different aural vibrations, and harmonizing these vibrations with our breath is key to aligning ourselves with the Nada the essential inner Sound that is the basis of all reality.
During the late 60's and 70's Bhagavan Das moved through India and Nepal embracing the austere life of a holy man, exploring Hinduism, Buddhism, transcendental meditation, tantra, worshipping the divine mother, and living under the blanket of his guru Neem Karoli Baba. When he finally returned to the States he found himself traveling on the guru circuit with Ram Das, Allen Ginsberg, Jerry Garcia, and Timothy Leary. He has led an exhilarating life on his quest for the sacred and is an inspiration to all who are fortunate to chant, study or simply be in his presence.
Bhagavan Das has written a spiritual memoir entitled: It?s here Now (Are You?), which has been reviewed as A fascinating journey of an all too human man seeking spiritual truth.. And has several CD's. His most recent: Bhagavan Das Now, mixed by Beastie Boy Mike D, of which Rolling Stone Magazine says?
