Mary Marshall leads class for newcomers and beginners (7 - 7:30 PM), with review and teaching for drummers with prior experience and skills (7:30 - 8:30 PM). Beginners welcome to stay, participate in later class. Regular Internation Folk Dance program follows.

Mary discovered folk dancing while in college, and began drumming in 1985 with The Balkantones in Eugene, Oregon. Later, she joined another Eugene ensemble, Slavej, and performed with them until 1997. She has studied Balkan drumming with many noted American and Eastern European teachers, and never misses an opportunity to learn and to play. After moving to San Diego 6 years ago, Mary joined Eastern Exposure, and also plays with another local band, and with visiting artists. A folk dance teacher for over 30 years, Mary loves to express the complicated Balkan rhythms through drumming.
