Every year millions of people around the world commemorate the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These commemorations not only honor those who lost their lives, but are a powerful statement of working together to ensure that such a tragedy never happens again.
Commemorative Program and Candlelight Vigil, 6:30 to 8 p. m., in front of the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum on Harbor Drive (one block south of Broadway).
Speakers include David Miller, Network of Spiritual Progressives; Dave Patterson, San Diego Veterans for Peace; Sara Haldeman-Scarr, San Diego First Church of the Brethren; Carol Jahnkow, Peace Resource Center; and poetry by Jim Moreno.
