It???s the buzz word of the day, but what exactly is sustainable tourism? On Saturday, September 13, former Lonely Planet editor and author Greg Benchwick will speak about how we, as travelers, can go green at Hostelling International USA, San Diego Council (HI-San Diego)???s Annual Meeting and Party.


The Admission price includes hors d???oeuvres, live and silent auctions, raffle prizes, and a meet-and-greet with the keynote speaker Greg Benchwick. Reservations are required, and early registration is highly recommended- the event is expected to fill up quickly. The deadline for RSVP is Friday, September 5.
Prior to the party, HI-San Diego???s Annual Meeting will be held at 3:00 pm. to elect the Board of Directors, honor volunteers, and highlight outstanding members of the hostelling community. The meeting portion of the event is free and open to the public until 3:30pm.
As a writer, photographer, and travel expert, Mr. Benchwick served on Lonely Planet???s Sustainable Tourism Committee, and has penned articles for Fodor???s, Newsweek, The Washington Post, and several travel websites. Mr. Benchwick now owns and operates MonJo Media www.monjomedia.com and Sound Traveler www.soundtraveler.com.
Hostelling International USA, San Diego Council is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting cross-cultural understanding through travel. HI-San Diego operates two hostels, and provides educational programs to fulfill the mission ???To help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its peoples through hostelling.???

Admission: $20.00 for Hostelling International members and $30.00 for non-members
