Masters of Fire traces the history of metal icon production in the town of Swamimalai, Tamil Nadu, in South India. In video, photos, artifacts, statues and interactive computer animation, the exhibition introduces visitors to ancient metallurgical technologies still in use today, and the families of hereditary bronze casters -- Staphathis -- who trace their lineage and craft back nearly 1,000 years.
