Stories from Afghanistan, a presentation by Professor Huma Ahmed-Ghosh of the Department of Women’s Studies at San Diego State University, will be featured at in Friendship Hall at the United Church of Christ of La Mesa (UCCLM).
Ahmed-Ghosh has over twenty years experience in teaching graduate and undergraduate Anthropology, Women’s Studies and Asian Studies courses pertaining to gender relations in Asia and international development. Her current research is on cultural adaptation strategies of immigrant Muslim women in Southern California and on Islam and feminism. She travels to Afghanistan annually to do research on the role of women-run NGOs in the reconstruction of the country.
Sunday Morning Live, a UCCLM study and discussion group, will host the event and is pleased to have Professor Ahmed-Ghosh kick off its 2009 Lecture Series.
