San Diego based Chicano Comedy Troupe, Teatro Izcalli, returns to the Lyceum Theater for 4 shows performing their hilarious "Teatro Izcalli Anthology" After 13 years of performing throughout the United States from as far as New York City to the lights of Las Vegas, Teatro Izcalli's original Chicano comedy combines political satire and educational actos.
Teatro Izcalli's focus, following in the traditions of La Carpa, Teatro Campesino, and Culture Clash, is to present the traditions, challenges, opportunities, and issues related to Chicanas/os. From performing in the streets of San Diego, to hundreds of high school and college venues, to opening for prominent performers such as the San Francisco Mime Troupe and Culture Clash, Teatro Izcalli Anthology? will highlight the most popular actos the troupe has been performing over the last 13 years. Teatro Izcalli will also be celebrating the release of their book "Nopal Boy and other Actos". Teatro Izcalli will also highlight the work of Izcalli, Teatro Izcalli's parent organization.
