The Center for World Music presents Zimbabwe Day with Zimbeat and special guests. Zimbeat is a marimba ensemble that performs the exuberant dance music of Zimbabwe, Africa--a popular style that is based on the traditional music played by the Shona people on their "thumb piano," the mbira dzavadzimu. Hypnotic interlocking melodies and exciting dance rhythms energize this captivating and compelling music. The marimba ensemble will be joined by two special guest dancers from Africa: Ms. Tsitsi Mutseta (Zimbabwe) and Mr. Kwame Degbor (Ghana).
