Kim Lawgali, Coordinator of TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Certificate Programs at UCSD, and Jane Starrett, an editor for non-native English speakers, will discuss editing for authors whose second language is English. Kim has a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and 29 years of experience in this field. She has created several courses at UCSD Extension for non-native speakers, including Grammar and Editing for Non-Native Speakers, Advanced Analysis of English Sentence Structure, and Advanced Grammar Seminar. Jane has an M.A. in Education with a specialization in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). She edits specifically for non-native speakers and works primarily with graduate students on theses and dissertations, statements of purpose, and other types of writing found in university settings.
