The XII Binational Choreographic Showcase, scheduled for May 22-25 at Dance Place San Diego, is designed to engage dancers and choreographers and enhance relationships in our binational dance community. This is the 12th annual Muestra, founded by Minerva Tapia and George Willis, former head of SDSU Dance program. Events have traditionally taken place in Tijuana.
This ground breaking three-day showcase brings three dance companies from Mexico to Dance Place to join three San Diego dance companies in a series of master classes, round table discussions, showcase of new choreography and a critics talk-back. This is a unique opportunity for dance artists to meet, study, view each other’s work and initiate future collaborations, all in San Diego’s state-of-the-art 20,000 square foot dance facility at NTC Promenade.
A wine and cheese reception, featuring dance images by photographer Jennifer Spencer, will help kick off the events on Friday, May 22 at 6 pm.
