Monks of Drepung Loseling will be on hand for "Brain Glow, A Week of Brain Exploration." Monks begin by consecrating site of mandala sand painting with approximately 30 minutes of chants, music, mantra recitation. Afterwards, they start drawing line design for mandala.
Mandala construction continues in museum atrium June 18-20. Monks will dedicate about 30 hours of team work to pour millions of grains of sand into place, using chak-pur (traditional metal funnels).
During Sunday's closing ceremony, monks will dismantle mandala, sweeping up the colored sands to symbolize impermanence of all that exists. Half the sand will be distributed to audience
