The Museum of Man's 4th Annual Dia de los Muertos celebration will be held on October 31, 2009 at 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Activities will include:
- The opportunity to make your own Day of the Dead altar
- Special Spooky Tours in the Ancient Egypt exhibit at 12:00, 2:00, and 3:00 p.m. by docent Jane Stillwell
- Cat Mummy Workshop at 1:00 p.m. - kids create a replica cat mummy!
- Light refreshments
As part of our Dia de los Muertos celebration, the museum will host special Spooky Tours in the Ancient Egypt gallery!
Families, organizations, businesses, schools and individuals are invited to participate in el Dia de los Muertos by building altars to honor friends and relatives who have gone before. The altars, both simple and elaborate, are an integral element of the celebration and typically honor a special individual or family member. The altars will be on display in the California Plaza throughout the day of October 31.
