SDSU Opera Theater’s fall 2009 production is one of the most famous and popular operettas of all time, Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado.

This Victorian-era British satire, set in the fictional Japanese town of Titipu, features 25 young singers, as well as an all-student chamber orchestra. When The Mikado first premiered at the Savoy Theater in London in 1885, it was hailed as Gilbert & Sullivan’s greatest masterpiece.
