Before World War II, what is now the center of the Gaslamp Quarter was a bustling Japantown. A new exhibit by the Japanese-American Historical Society and the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation traces the changes to the neighborhood and the people forced to leave it for internment camps. Opening reception features speeches, refreshments, walking tour and several of San Diego's "internees" on hand.
