The Barona Cultural Center & Museum invites San Diegans to join Richard Carrico, researcher and lecturer in the Department of American Indian Studies at SDSU, as he peels back more than 3,000 years of history and discusses the role the ocean played in the Kumeyaay culture.
Focusing largely on the techniques and methods used by the Kumeyaay to attain different types of fish, Mr. Carrico will also discuss the types of boats and canoes used by the group, which is better known for their reliance on the land, and the various areas they explored including the deep ocean, off-shore islands, San Diego Bay and Mission Bay and the near shore.
