Presenter Stanley Ginsberg

?To eat a piece of homemade bread is to merge with generations past and, hopefully, with generations yet unborn? Bread baking is very important in Jewish life. The tradition is passed down from grandparents to grandchildren and from parents to children. This presentation will look at the breads of eastern European Jewish culture and the changes in both as a result of the immigrants? integration into American culture.

Stanley Ginsberg is co-author (with Norman Berg) of the Award winning Inside the Jewish Bakery: Recipes and Memories from the Golden Age of Jewish Baking. He grew up in post-World War Two Brooklyn, where he learned to bake from his grandmothers. Now happily retired, he spends his time baking, writing about baking and running The New York Bakers, an Internet seller of professional and specialty ingredients to home bakers.
