Talk: Neighboring Faiths (Christianity, Islam, Judaism)

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
A discussion of the relationship of Christianity, Islam and Judaism by David Nirenberg, PhD. Professor and Dean of Social Sciences, University of Chicago. He specializes in the history of medieval Spain but whose published work has now expanded to look at issues of interfaith relationships and antagonisms across the longer Western tradition.

Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are usually treated as autonomous religions, but in fact across the long course of their histories the three religions have developed in interaction with one another.

How have Jews, Christians, and Muslims lived with and thought about one another in the past, and what can that past tell us about how they do so today?
